Manchester man's Star Wars script gets evaluated by Pawn Stars expert

MANCHESTER - David Bellman is well known as one of the area's premiere jewelers, but a number of years ago, he purchased another kind of valuable - a Star Wars script signed by the filmmaker George Lucas.

On Thursday, his prized papers became the focus of a popular television show.

"I'm a big fan of Pawn Stars so I thought I'll give them a call and if they're interested in it, they'll bring in an expert," said Bellman.

But rather than travel to Las Vegas himself, he sent his script in the care of his assistant store manager Justin Krall.

Pawn Stars brought in their expert, but the news wasn't what they wanted to hear.

If the document had been a shooting script, one that they actually used, for example a copy that belonged to one of the actors, then the script would be worth $25,000 to $30,000, Krall learning. But the one Bellman had was valued at around $2,000, the expert said.

"It turned out ot be a little different than what we thought it was, but it was an authentic George Lucas signature," Krall said.

Bellman was told by the show's stars that if he came across another valuable item to give them a call.
