Manchester man leads police on car chase, crashes into median

MANCHESTER - A Manchester man is expected to appear in court this morning after police say he failed to stop for police, leading them on a short chase through the Queen City.

Police say the incident started at the South Willow Street McDonald's. 24 year-old Matthew Platt was panhandling outside the restaurant on Sunday around noontime, then drove away erratically in a red sedan.

Police located Platt driving on Queen City Ave. towards Second St. but he refused to pull over. After a short chase, Platt lost control on the Granite St. off ramp. He hit the median, went airborne and ended up on the other side of the road, when the car caught fire.

Police say, Platt then fled on foot where he was apprehended.

He is facing disobeying a police officer, habitual offender and conduct after an accident charges.
