Manchester man assaulted when he opens his front door, 1 arrested in connection
MANCHESTER - A 44-year-old man who answered the front door of his apartment said he was attacked by two men early Wednesday morning.
Police say they have made one arrest in connection with the reported assault at 471 Maple St. around 7 a.m.
According to police, the victim, Michael Duval opened his door and two men attacked him with their fists.
When one of Duval's friends came to his aid, he was hit in the leg with a hammer. A third person in the house, a woman, said one of the men had pointed a gun at her during the assault.
None of three victims sustained serious injuries and their attackers fled before police arrived.
Antonio Maddox, 51, the man who'd allegedly pointed the gun, later returned to the house. When he saw the police, he ran and police gave chase. Police say he did not have any weapons on him when he was arrested.
Maddox was charged with burglary, criminal threatening and being a fugitive from justice based on a warrant out of Michigan for failing to pay child support.
He was scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday. in the 9th Circuit Court of Manchester.
The second suspect and the weapons were not located. Police say there were unable to determine what prompted the attack and it's not clear if the victims knew their assailants.
