Manchester man arrested after police said he fired gun outside apartment

MANCHESTER — A Manchester man allegedly fired several gunshots outside of his apartment Tuesday night.
Manchester Police responded to 21 Prospect Street in Manchester, for a report of several gunshots heard. When they arrived, a witness told police that he saw a man, later identified as Andrew Purington, 21, of apartment 4 at that address, fire shots in the air and then immediately walked into a third-floor apartment. Five shell casings were found outside of the building.
Police dispatch called the apartment and spoke with a man, identified as Purington, and an unidentified woman, who were inside, according to police. The two were asked to come out of the apartment and were detained by police during the investigation.
After interviewing Purington, police learned he fired about four rounds from a pistol up into the air. There were no reported injuries.
Purington was charged with reckless conduct. His bail was set at $5,000 cash or surety and he is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court, Manchester today.
