Manchester furniture designer advances to the finals of Ellen's Design Challenge
MANCHESTER — A Manchester furniture designer - one of eight chosen to participate in a national television show - has made it to the finals.
Vivian Beer, owner of Vivian Beer Studio Works at 21 Dow St., will be competing against Sef Pinney of Los Angeles as the final two designers in "Ellen's Design Challenge" which will be broadcast on HGTV on Monday.
On next week’s finale, the finalists will be asked to build not one, but two, original pieces of furniture.
During the judging ceremony, Ellen DeGeneres will join the judges to select and crown the winner, according to the HGTV website. The winner gets a $100,000 cash prize and has their work featured on HGTV Magazine.
Beer grew up in Maine and studied metalsmithing at the Cranberry Academy of Art in Bloomfield, Mich. One of her pieces, called "Anchored Candy No. * can be seen at the Currier Museum of Art.
