Manchester firefighters: Raging garage fire spreads to home, catches car in its path

MANCHESTER - Firefighters responded to a garage fire Monday that spread to a home and torched a car.

Firefighters received a 911 call regarding fire in a two-stall garage located about 10 feet the back of a home at 226 Sagamore St.

When firefighters arrived they found that the fire had spread from the 25 x 25 garage and had reached the two-story home while engulfing a car in its path. Firefighters reported numerous explosions from burning solvents, gas cans and LP tanks in the garage.

The homeowners were outside the home uninjured with their pet cat before firefighters arrived. One firefighter suffered a minor injury and was treated at the scene.

Overall fire damage to the property is estimated to be $75,000. Cause of the fire is under investigation but is not considered suspicious.
