Manchester Fire Department announces 800th person to pass through Safe Station
MANCHESTER — Manchester Fire Department announced today that 800 people have passed through their Safe Station.
Each Manchester NH Fire Station has been designated as a safe environment for the individuals seeking assistance looking for treatment to start their path to recovery since early 2015, according to the fire department's website.
Thanksgiving Day at about 10:57 a.m., the 800th person came through their Safe Station, according to firefighter Christopher Hickey.
"We're committed to saving lives everyday," said Fire Chief Daniel Goonan. "If we can create an avenue for people to step through to make a change in their lives, we will. The program is working based on the what it was set out to do back in 2015. We are committed to its' success."
