Manchester fire damages building but no one injured in blaze

MANCHESTER - No one was injured in a late-morning fire at a three-story building on Bay Street but the building suffered smoke and fire damage.

Firefighters say the fire broke out just after 11 a.m.

The building, at 84 Bay St. housed two offices and a third-floor apartment.

Officials say the fire was caused by improperly extinguished smoking materials left in a planter on the upstairs porch.

Officials estimate the damage from both smoke and fire at about $10,000.
