Manchester family aided by Red Cross after fire destroys home
MANCHESTER — The Red Cross is assisting a family of five who lost their home on 589 Somerville Street to a fire early Sunday morning.
The Red Cross Disaster Action Team met with the residents, and made sure they had a safe place to sleep, eat, and obtain other essentials like clothing.
There were no firefighter or civilian injuries due to the fire, which was put out around 4:30 a.m.
The Red Cross client casework will stay involved with the family to provide referrals as they work to re-stabilize.
The Red Cross community partners around the country are involved in a campaign called the "Home Fire Preparedness Campaign," an effort to keep homes and families safer and more prepared for emergency fires.
