Manchester City Marathon draws hundreds to Queen City

A bit of wind didn’t stop hundreds of runners from participating in the 10th annual Manchester City Marathon Sunday

Racers gathered for the 8:50am start time for the full-marathon, half-marathon and relay races. Minutes later the newly added 5k race kicked off.

John Mortimer of Millennium Running, new event organizer for the 2016 race, told the Union Leader a combined 1,800 runners from 26 states and six countries participated in the race.

Dan Vassallo, 31, of Peabody, Massachusetts was the winner of the full –marathon with a time of 2:23:59. The first female to finish the full-marathon was Megan Nedlo of Salem, Massachusetts. She finished with a time of 2:53:35.

The winners of the half-marathon were 23-year-old Sam Gagnon of Dover with a time of 1:09:48 and 25-year-old Mary Peters of Hanover with a time of 1:29:01.

42-year-old James Porter of Manchester won the 5k with a time of 17:37.
