Manchester bank robbed, suspect in custody

MANCHESTER - At approximately 9:10 a.m. on Saturday Manchester Police responded to a reported robbery at the TD Bank on Bay Street in Manchester after a man allegedly handed the bank teller a note demanding cash. The suspect reportedly made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

A short while later, police apprehended 36-year-old Matthew Ireland of Manchester after an officer on the west side saw a man whom matched the description of the suspect.

When officers tried to pull over Ireland, he attempted to flee. His escape was thwarted when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a snow bank, Manchester Police reported. After a short chase on foot, Ireland was taken into custody.

He is being charged with Robbery and Disobeying a Police Officer.
