Man who fired machine gun in downtown Concord sentenced in U.S. District Court

CONCORD - A man who fired a machine gun out his front door in downtown Concord was sentenced to 37 months in prison and three years of supervised release.

The U.S. District Court in Concord said Nicholas Ethier, 36, was a convicted felon when he was found with the gun and ammunition in his Fayette Street residence on Jan. 28 of last year. According to the court, he got into an argument with his neighbor when he fired the weapon out his front door.

“The extremely dangerous conduct of the defendant, the discharge of a machinegun in a
downtown Concord neighborhood, underscores the importance of ensuring that prohibited persons
do not possess firearms,” stated U.S. Attorney Emily Gray Rice.
