Man wanted in Oklahoma kidnapping arrested in Concord

CONCORD - Authorities arrested a man on Beacon Street Friday who was wanted in Oklahoma on charges of kidnapping and assault with a dangerous weapon.

According to the U.S. Marshal Service, they were contacted and asked to assist in locating Ashton Garland, 24.

Garland was found to be living in an apartment at Beacon Street. Concord police and members of the U.S. Marshals went to the Beacon Street address to arrest Garland. After several knocks at the door, they say they heard someone come to the door and then flee upstairs. Officers then forced their way into the apartment and found Garland hiding in the attic.

Garland was charged as a fugitive from justice and will be held at the Merrimack County jail until his initial court appearance and eventual return to Oklahoma to face the assault and kidnapping allegations.
