Man wanted for hit-and-run crash with bicyclist arrested by Franklin police

LACONIA — Police arrested a man on Tuesday who witnesses told them hit a bicyclist with a car and fled the scene two days earlier.

Juan Padua, 54, of 47 Merrimack St., was arrested by Franklin police on a warrant for charges of driving his 2008 Nissan Altima into an individual on a bicycle at the intersection of Court Street and Fair Street in Laconia, and driving away.

Padua was taken to the Laconia Police Department for processing. After refusing bail, he was taken to the Belknap County Jail.

His arraignment is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.
