Man to deported after lying to Portsmouth Police about his citizenship, Social Security number

CONCORD - A Dominican man pleaded guilty to falsely claiming he was assigned a Social Security number that in fact was assigned to another person, the U.S. Attorney's office said.

Sergio Yeremi Martinez-Mejia of the Dominican Republic told Portsmouth Police and Immigration and Customs Enforcement he was a Puerto Rican U.S. Citizen and provided a Social Security number he claimed was his in March 2015. A check of his fingerprints showed Martinez-Mejia had been ordered deported to the Dominican Republic in 2011.

Martinez-Mejia will be sentenced Aug. 9 and will be deported after serving his sentence.
