Man suspected of burglarizing, starting fire in Keene

KEENE - Police have arrested a man they say broke into the Buff Masters at 522 Main Street early Wednesday morning and started a fire there.

Police say a witness reported seeing a white male running from the building. The suspect had a shaved head, and was wearing a red sweatshirt and tan shorts, police said.

Firefighters successfully put out the fire, and police used a K9 to track the fleeing suspect, but were unable to find him.

About five hours later, a brush fire was reported on the east side of Route 101. A man matching the description of the suspect in the Main Street fire was seen running away, headed towards the drive-in theater on Optical Avenue.

Police dogs tracked down Darren Bolio, a 37-year-old homeless man from Keene, who matched the description of the suspect.

Bolio was arrested and charged with burglary in connection with the Buff Masters fire.

Detectives are still investigating the case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Keene Police Department at 603-357-9820.
