Man sentenced to 10-20 years for beating, pistol-whipping girlfriend at Salem motel


BRENTWOOD - A Massachusetts man who was convicted of beating and pistol-whipping his ex-girlfriendwith was sentenced to 10-20 years for first-degree assault with a firearm.

Walton Valentin, of Methuen, Mass., was also sentence to an additional year in jail for convictions on simple assault and violation of a restraining order that was suspended.

Valentin was convicted in December of beating his ex-girlfriend and forcing her to bring him to a Salem motel at gunpoint in 2013.

The woman had a restraining order on Valentin at the time.
