MANCHESTER - A Manchester man became trapped in the the sewer system but was rescued Friday after a driver saw a hand reaching out of a sewer grate and answered the cries for help.
When firefighters arrived, the were initially unable to get the trapped man out from the sewer grate where he was found but located another grate 4 feet away where they were able to pull him to safety.
The man, age 19, was unable to explain how he got there or how long he'd been trapped, firefighters said, but he was suffering from hypothermia and appeared disoriented, telling rescuers he was "looking for God."
He was taken to Elliot Hospital where he was treated for hypothermia.
