Man found dead on Rochester street may have stumbled on stairs

ROCHESTER - A man found dead and lying in a puddle on Portland Street early Tuesday morning may have been the victim of a bad fall.

Police Capt. Gary Boudreau told Fosters Daily Democrat that it appears the man fell from some steps and died of blunt force trauma as a result.

“Currently we are leaning toward an accidental death,” Boudreau said.

Police identified the body as 50-year-old Yihui Zhao, of Quincy, Mass.. He had been in Rochester for about two weeks, working at the Dynasty Restaurant and staying with co-workers.

Zhao was found face-down in a puddle by a passer-by who contacted police and tried unsuccessfully to revive him.
