Man charged with making gun threat after he wasn't let into McGarvey's in Manchester

MANCHESTER - A 22-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly threatened a bartender and another man with a gun after he was refused entrance into McGarvey's Pub.

The police said Joseph Riley and a friend got into an altercation with the bartender at McGarvey's, when he said they appeared intoxicated.

After a brief argument, another man stepped into help, and Riley then allegedly pulled out a handgun, pulled the slide back and loaded a round into the chamber.

After the men said they felt threatened, a patrolling Manchester police officer was notified.

Riley was found in possession of a Glock .380 caliber handgun. The police said enough probable cause was gathered to arrest and charge Riley with felony criminal threatening.

Riley was released on $2,000 personal recognizance.

He is scheduled to appear June 9 in the 9th Circuit Court in Manchester.
