Man charged with killing ex-girlfriend after she arrived in Florida from NH
A Fort Myers man faces a murder charge in the strangulation death of a 33-year-old woman shortly after she arrived in Florida on a bus from New Hampshire.
According to the news-press.com, Jonathan Cutler, 35, is in the Lee County Jail on homicide charges for the death of Eleanor Josephine Jones. He was also charged with domestic violence battery and evidence tampering.
Cutler has confessed to the killing his ex-girlfriend Jones, according to investigators. Jones' body was found Jan. 23. Investigators identified her using her fingerprints.
The Lee County Medical Examiner's Office determined that Jones died as a result of strangulation.
Video surveillance from the Fort Myers Greyhound Bus Station showed Cutler meeting her when she arrived Jan. 5 from New Hampshire, according to the Lee County Sheriff's Office.
He later admitted to bringing her back to his residence, claiming he hoped to help her get medical treatment, according to his arrest report. Cutler and his current girlfriend also claimed that Jones left the night of Jan. 5 and had not had contact with them since, the report states.
During a subsequent search of their residence, investigators say they found evidence of Cutler's involvement in Jones' death, including computer records showing a map search of the area in which Jones' body was found.
