Man charged with hurting a 7-week-old baby in Merrimack
MERRIMACK - A 7-week-old baby has been hospitalized, and a man is under arrest accused of assaulting the infant on Thursday.
Chase Mariscal, 20, of 11365 West Desert Grass, Tucson, Ariz. faces two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, two counts of attempted second-degree assault, simple assault and two counts of reckless conduct.
Police say they were called to an address at the Maple Ridge Condominiums for a reported assault Thursday. According to the 911 call, a man at the home, later identified as Mariscal, was accused of assaulting the baby. Police say they believe Mariscal had reckless handled the baby on two occasions -- resulting in the baby falling onto the floor and into a piece of furniture.
Police say Mariscal is also accused of assaulting another member of the household.
The infant was taken to Elliott Hospital with undetermined injuries.
Mariscal was scheduled to be arraigned in the 9th Circuit Court, District Division, Merrimack later in the day.
