Man charged with drunken driving for 2nd time, speeding in Merrimack

MERRIMACK — Police arrested a 23-year-old man for a second-offense drunken driving charge and speeding.

Richard Dumond, of Augusta, Maine, was arrested on Industrial Drive in Merrimack at about 12:05 a.m. on Tuesday. When the officer pulled the 2014 Chevy Equinox over, police said Dumond pulled to the side, struck a speed limit sign, and then stopped in the grass just past the shoulder.

The officer said Dumond showed signed of alcohol impairment and placed him under arrest after a brief investigation.

Police said Dumond had a previous driving while intoxicated conviction in Maine. He was then charged with O.U.I.L. - 2nd Offense and given a summons for his speed. He was placed on $2,000 personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
