Man charged in Londonderry robbery, faces other charges in Derry

LONDONDERRY - Police have arrested a suspect in the July robbery of a Sherwin Williams store - a Derry man who already faces charges in his own community.

Police say Douglas Lynch, 31, walked into the store on West Broadway Street on July 16 at 9 a.m. and walked around before approaching the cashier. The cashier told police that the suspect had placed his hand in his pocket and ordered her to "give me all the money you have or I'll shoot you."

The cashier handed over about $200 and the suspect fled the scene, however, she was able to give police a detailed description.

Police say that Derry police subsequently made an arrest in a similar incident and the suspect there matched the description of the robbery suspect in Londonderry.

Further investigation led police to charge Lynch for the Londonderry robbery. Lynch remains in custody in connection with the Derry incident, police said.
