Man breaks into parents' Hudson home with fake gun, gets into standoff with police

HUDSON - A burglary turned into a standoff with police Tuesday after a Somersworth man allegedly broke into his parents home in Hudson.

Matthew Felton, of Somersworth, was arraigned Wednesday morning after police arrested him for allegedly breaking into his own father’s home at 29 Woodcrest Dr. with a ski mask and a fake gun.

“Well I saw officers with machine guns, it looked like,” one neighbor said.

Neighbors were unwilling to give their names to media outlets after the incident Tuesday.

“Eventually the SWAT team did arrive," a second neighbor said. "I would say there was about 30 to 40 cruisers."

The couple living at the home was safely removed and unharmed.

Police also found a backpack belonging to Felton with a knife, rope, zip ties and duct tape inside.

Felton is being held on $100,000 cash bail and is scheduled to be back in court on March 9.
