Man attempts to flee Manchester detectives
MANCHESTER - According to a press release, on Tuesday, Jan. 7, at approximately 12 p.m., members of the Manchester Police Detective Unit responded to the area of 273 Central St. in an attempt to locate and arrest Jonathan Sargent, 29, of Manchester.
Sargent had been recently released from Hillsborough County Correctional Facility and detectives, working collectively with members of the Special Investigative Unit and New Hampshire Probation/Parole were attempting to locate him due to a pending detention order.
According to Manchester Police, Detective Sergeant Joe Mucci, along with Detective's D. Whelan, Neil Penttinen and Brian Gannon observed a motor vehicle in the parking lot of Han's Food Mart, 353 Maple St. Police said the detectives observed three individuals seated in the car, and one individual went into the store.
According to Manchester police, detectives recognized the male subject, so they entered the store and placed him into custody. Sargent was already in handcuffs when he made a quick motion and broke the grasp of Penttinen before fleeing on foot. Detectives immediately chased after Sargent and subdued him once again, but this time he was unable to break free. He was ultimately placed into the transport wagon and taken to Police Headquarter, and he was booked on multiple charges, to include escape, possession of a narcotic drug, possession of a prescription drug and violation of bail.
He will appear in Manchester Court on Jan. 8.
