Man arrested after stealing 10 guns - some loaded - from Portsmouth residence

PORTSMOUTH — Police arrested a man after they linked him to the burglary of 10 guns on Middle Road last week.

An ongoing investigation of a reported burglary where several firearms were stolen from a Portsmouth home led to the arrest of Barkym Brown, 36, of Bronx, N.Y.

He was arrested by tactical units after being negotiated out of his Portsmouth hotel room and then was arrested without incident.

Brown was charged with fugitive from justice, burglary, felon in possession of a firearm, two counts possession with the intent to distribute, cocaine and heroin, and possession of burglary tools. His bail was set at $75,000.

Brown was already wanted on a felony bench warrant from superior court in New York City.

He was transported to the police department where he was processed and later transported to the Rockingham County Jail. He was set to be arraigned on Tuesday.
