Man allegedly targeted in Keene murder-for-hire plot: 'She loves me'

KEENE - The man who was the target of a murder for hire said he believes his ex-girlfriend wouldn't have followed through with plans to have him killed.

"She loves me but we were having a lot of issues," said Timothy Stricker.

Keene Detectives arrested his estranged girlfriend Kerri Reason after they say she texted her ex-husband in Connecticut, agreeing to pay him $5,000 to kill Stricker.

Her ex-husband contacted Keene Police who facilitated the texting conversation, where Reason said she would pay, but didn't have the money when he arrived to her house wearing a wire.

Reason and the man she was hoping to hire talked further about the plans, detectives said. Reason told him details about where he lived, worked and when he took breaks.

Because she didn't have money, Reason gave the man an iPod as collateral.

After the man left, Reason was arrested.

"Her parents pushed her to do this and then the state pushed her the rest of the way," Stricker said.

Reason's public defender argued she has mental health issues.

Reason is being held on $100,000 bail and cannot have contact with Stricker. Her next court date has not been set.

Reason and Stricker have a two year old boy who is staying with Reason's mother.

"I didn’t think it was real it still feels really surreal," Stricker said.
