Man accused of stealing phone while inside the Manchester Police Department lobby

MANCHESTER - Police say a man stole a cell phone from the lobby of the Manchester police department while he was waiting to speak with officers.

According to police, Joshua Hamlett, 34, was brought into the department Tuesday.

While he was waiting to meet with police, Hamlett allegedly took a cell phone from a chair in the front lobby.

Bill LeBlanc had left his phone in the lobby and realized it was missing when he was leaving.

Detectives searched Hamlett and found the Samsung Galaxy cell phone, along with a hypodermic needle and a pill on her person.

Hamlett was charged with theft, falsification of evidence, possession of a controlled drug and violation of bail.

He is expected to appear in court Wednesday.
