Maine state police say man shot, killed wife before killing self
FRYEBURG, Maine - State Police said a man shot and killed his wife before killing himself.
Police said the bodies were found in separate building early this morning on West Fryeburg Road.
Police said 52-year-old Jody Buzzell was shot by her husband inside their home on Monday afternoon. Relatives called police to the home.
Police spent hours in sub-freezing temperatures before the tactical team entered the house early Tuesday morning and found Jody Buzzell's body in a first floor room about 1 a.m. About four hours later, police found 52-year-old Mark Buzzell in a vacant residence next door. The residence also is owned by a family member.
Detectives said Buzzell left a note and also told family members he had killed his wife.
The bodies were taken to a local funeral home and will be transported to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta on Wednesday.
The property is a few hundred feet from the NH state line, and NH State Police assisted in looking for Buzzell during the night. Route 113 was closed for about 12 hours until Mark Buzzell's body was found around 5 a.m.
The death is the first homicide in Maine in 2015.
