Maine man shoots himself three times in head with flare gun
FREEPORT, MAINE- Maine State Police reported an apparent suicide attempt along Interstate 295 in Freeport where a man in a pickup truck shot himself in the head three times with a flare gun.
The man was assisted by two motorists who stopped to help when they saw his truck on fire by the side of the roadway said Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Safety.
According to the Portland Press Herald the man was identified as 65-year-old Daniel Abbot of Portland. He was in serious condition at Maine Medical Center, suffering from burns and head injuries.
