Maine man arrested, charged with robbing Dover CVS twice

DOVER - Police arrested a Maine man they say was responsible for two robberies at a CVS Pharmacy, including one on Friday.

Robert J. Belair, 35, of Berwick, Maine, has been charged with two felony counts of robbery in connection with the theft of painkillers from the CVS at 118 Central Ave. on Oct. 22 and Nov. 6.

Police say, in both cases, he presented the pharmacist with a note demanding prescription painkillers then ran off with a quantity of medication.

After the robbery on Friday, police say witnesses provided them with a license plate number of the suspect and a state police trooper was able to stop the car on Old Dover Road. Local police then responded to make the arrest. After further investigation, police also concluded Belair was responsible for the Oct. 22 robbery.

Belair is being held at the Strafford County jail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in the 7th Circuit Court of Dover.
