Lucky's Barbershop goes to the dogs, raises money for Concord animal shelter

CONCORD - Lucky's Barbershop and Shave went to the dogs on Sunday -- raising money for a local animal shelter.

Lucky's teamed up with the Pope Memorial SPCA for the first annual Lucky's Barbershop adoption day. The event was intended to raise money and awareness for shelter animals and featured a raffle and a doggie kissing booth. Visitors also were invited to meet and take picture with local shelter animals.

"If you support the community that you exist in, the community that you exist in will support you, so we try to do that in any way we can. We're all animal guys myself included; a few of us have rescue dogs at home so it's an issue pretty close to our hearts," said James Carroll, a barber at the shop.

Lucky's planned to donate all of the proceeds from the event to the Pope Memorial SPCA.
