Look for the red shirts; Laconia drug abuse prevention group to attend Pumpkin Festival
LACONIA — In a sea of orange pumpkins, expect to see a few people in red shirts this weekend. They are members of a drug abuse prevention group called Stand Up Laconia.
According to the Laconia Citizen, volunteers with the grass-roots coalition will be providing information about substance abuse resources and offering Stand Up Laconia t-shirts for sale during the 25th annual Pumpkin Festival downtown.
"It's going to be a busy day, but we're happy to participate and have a chance to tell everyone about all of our upcoming activities," said Clare Persson of Stand Up Laconia. "This problem affects us all and anyone who is interested in joining the coalition is welcome to do so."
Stand Up Laconia meets the fourth Thursday of every month at 5:30 p.m. at the Huot Technical Center's Meredith Village Savings Bank Culinary Arts Center adjacent to Laconia High School.
