Londonderry woman injured in Saco double shooting

From staff and wire reports

SACO, Maine - Police in Maine continue to investigate a home invasion in Saco in which one of the homeowners as well as a house guest were shot multiple times.

Police identified the victims of the home invasion just before 3 a.m. Thursday as homeowner Steven Chabot and guest Rachel Owens of Londonderry, N.H. Chabot's wife, Carol, was in the home at the time, but was unharmed.

The victims were hospitalized but their conditions could not immediately be determined.

Police Chief Brad Paul said Steven Chabot called 911 but the intruder had fled the home at 25 Hillview Ave. before officers arrived.

Paul said one person was in custody for questioning in Londonderry, but is not under arrest. Owens' home in New Hampshire had also been sealed by police.

On Friday morning, the New Hampshire State Police Crime Scene Unit arrived at the Londonderry home.

According to longtime friend, Laura Craine, Owens and her husband married in late 1970s and had a good marriage.

"Rachel was awesome," Craine said. "I don't know anyone who would want to hurt her."

Paul said it was not a random attack. The home where the shooting took place is in a quiet, middle-class neighborhood. The Chabot's have lived there for 30 years.
