Londonderry's Stonyfield visitor center to close its door

LONDONDERRY – The Stonyfield visitor center, that has been open for 25 years, announced it will be closing later this month.

Located on Burton Drive, the visitor center has been a community hot spot for the company's organic products.

The visitor center once offered tours to the public interested in seeing how yogurt is produced, however in 2000 the Stonyfield ended tours due to limited space.

According to the Union Leader, space also the reason the visitor center will be closing. As the company hired more employees and prepares to merge office locations, the location of the visitor center will now be used for Stonyfield offices.

Since community members will not be coming to Stonyfield's doors any longer, the center's closing poses a new aim for Stonyfield - to focus more on community outreach events like the upcoming Old Home Day.

Stonyfield workers say the visitor center's closing is necessary as the company expands.

The Stonyfield's visitor center is set to close August 28.
