MANCHESTER- The name says it all. Cody Ball won the first state championship with Londonderry High School last year. He is already making an important impact for the St. Anslem's Hawks this season.
The team is 8-1 and they sit second in their conference.
"I think people in this league are going to go 'Oh My God, I can't believe how Cody Ball is,'" said his head coach Keith Dickson.
At first Coach Dickson was unsure of Cody because he had some for physical growth but once he saw Cody play in person, he was blown away.
"He's very mature; a very good decision maker. He can shoot both off the catch and off the dribble," said Dickson.
Cody has the best assist to turnover ratio on the team which shows how smart he is as a player. He's seen action in every game so far and started three games. His first start was against Stonehill was last month. It's a game and a memory that he won't forget.
"Actually I messed up because when we come out, when they call your name to start, I went over and shook the other coach's hand...and you're not supposed to do that," said Ball. "So I kind of made a fool out of myself."
Ball is a local name you'll hear more of-with a growing crowd in the stands.
"I have a good amount of family that comes to every game," said Ball. "My parents, my brother, I usually have five to ten aunts and uncles at all the games."
With 56 points this season, Cody averages 22 points per game. His team next hosts Franklin Pierce on Sunday.
