A proud and powerful ceremony took place Thursday as the 368th Engineer Battalion from Londonderry said their goodbyes to friends and family.
The battalion is deploying to Kuwait in support of operation enduring freedom.
“For him to be able and serve his country couldn’t make me or the kids more proud,” said Lauren Peledge, a soldier's wife.
There are more than 150 troops being deployed with the battalion. The plane takes off tomorrow morning.
