LONDONDERRY - From harassment to domestic violence, here in New Hampshire officials have reported several cases recently.
The latest case involves a senior member of the Fire Department in Londonderry. Battalion Chief Douglas Cardwell is suspended indefinitely following an arrest on harassment charges.
This comes on the heels of two other cases involving public safety officials. The Chester Deputy Fire Chief recently accused of domestic abuse against a woman.
Also, the Weare Police Chief was suspended with pay after a restraining order was taken out against him for allegedly pushing a woman he was having a relationship with.
At the Crisis Center of Central New Hampshire they say when it comes to harassment and domestic violence they see victims of all ages coming in for help.
Abby Carter of the center said, "We work with people starting in the teen years when kids are coning from relationships from high school, to the elderly who have been with their partner for 50 years and are now able to come forward and seek out support ."
Here are some signs to look out for if you suspect someone you know is in an abusive relationship. They fear their partner. They have a partner who belittles them or tries to control them. Other signs include feelings of self-loathing, helplessness, and desperation.
Simply put, no one should be afraid of the person they love.
