'Lock It or Lose It': Bedford police reminding people to keep cars locked

BEDFORD - As the weather gets warmer and car thefts tend to increase, the Bedford Police Department is reminding residents to lock their vehicles and belongings as part of the “Lock It or Lose It” campaign.

According to Bedford Police, over 90 percent of these thefts occur at homes when car doors are left unlocked.

In order to prevent car theft, police urge people to always lock their vehicles even if it is the driveway, and to never leave belongings (especially valuables) in the car or in plain view.

Bedford Police will have an increased presence throughout the community, but advise community members to be proactive in protecting their belongings.
