Lock down of US Capitol building and visitor center lifted

WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. Capitol is no longer in lockdown;

A loudspeaker announcement on grounds said the lockdown was concluded at about 9:45 a.m.

The Senate seargant at arms issued a lockdown alert for the building and visitor center, saying police activity has been reported. Capitol office buildings were open.

Capitol police said they were searching for an individual but offered no details. One officer outside the Capitol said police had responded to sketchy reports of woman who may have a gun.
