BRENTWOOD — A heavy police presence surrounded a home on Mill Pond road for hours, while officials investigated a report of a suicidal person.
Several residents were evacuated, while others received a reverse 911 call telling them to stay inside. All residents able to return to their homes by 4:30p.m.
The Seacoast Emergency Response Team, which consists of agencies from several surrounding towns, set up around the home while officers attempted to make contact with the person inside.
A deceased person was located inside the home, police said. The person appears to have died of self inflicted wounds.
One neighbor said the situation brought back memories of the 2014 standoff when police officer Steven Arkell was shot and killed on the same street while answering a call for a dispute.
Police did not have much comment when asked to compare the two incidents, but said each call provides valuable lessons for future responses.
