Max the miniature horse - who is recovering at a Rochester animal clinic - now has a little bit of help from an adorable 5-year-old boy.

Max was shot in the leg by a senseless act of violence and will need a prosthetic leg and surgery. A Go Fund Me page has already raised more than $12,000 for Max’s recovery.

But not all of the donations are from adults.

Cole, a 5-year-old boy who lost his own horse named Cowboy just over a week ago, gave his savings for Max.

Cole donated money, apples, carrots and mints to Max. In a letter to Max, Cole said he couldn’t save his horse but hopes to help Max.

Way to go, Cole!

If you would like to donate to Max, check out the Go Fund Me page.
