EXETER — A ruptured gas line resulted in the evacuation of a nearby library and apartment.
Police responded to a report of someone hitting a gas line at about 12:30 p.m. on Friday. The gas line that goes to one home ruptured in the area of Spring and Chestnut streets.
Exeter Public Library and Exeter Mill apartments were evacuated, but were allowed back in at 2:10 p.m. after the area was made safe by police and fire.
Unitil crews arrived shortly after the incident to repair the pipe.
