Libraries, 1-room schoolhouse, theater join NH State Register of Historic Places

The Associated Press

CONCORD (AP) — Three library buildings, a town hall, a one-room schoolhouse, a mill and a movie theater are the latest additions to the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places.

Greenland's Weeks Public Library, the Hampton Falls Library and the Rye Public Library have been added to the list.

Also added are the Belmont Mill, the Majestic Theatre in Conway, the Little Red Schoolhouse in Danville, and the Hampton Falls Town Hall.

The benefits of being listed on the state register include special consideration and relief from some building codes and regulations, and the designation of a property as historical, which is a pre-qualification for many grant programs, including Conservation License Plate grants and New Hampshire Land and Community Heritage Investment Program grants.
