LEBANON - When Robert B. Armstrong received a response to his Craigslist ad seeking sex in exchange money, he was met with a surprise - the police.
Police arranged the meeting after seeing Armstrong's ad online and asked to meet him at a local restaurant. The 48-year-old offered $75 for the encounter, police said.
Armstrong, wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with a donkey and the phrase "I'm a smart one," was arrested at the restaurant at about 6 p.m. He was charged with solicitation of prostitution, a misdemeanor. He was released on no bail and is expected to return to court May 23.
In a press release, Lebanon Police Department stated it continues to monitor possible crimes being committed via the internet.
"Prostitution-related offenses, although seemingly a victimless crime, can often involved human trafficking of both adults and children," the release states. "Our efforts in this area will continue."
