Last day to register for lottery for Mount Washington race

The Associated Press

PINKHAM NOTCH (AP) - It's the last day for runners to sign up for a lottery for this summer's 55th Northeast Delta Dental Mount Washington Road Race.

The online lottery, which ends Tuesday, selects the bulk of the field for the all-uphill footrace scheduled for June 20. Runners may enter the lottery by visiting the race website.

Former six-time World Mountain Champion Jonathan Wyatt of New Zealand holds the men's course record at 56 minutes and 41 seconds, set in 2004. The women's record was set in 2010 by Ethiopian runner Shewarge Amare, at one hour, eight minutes and 21 seconds.

Fifty percent of all proceeds from the race will be donated to the Coos County Family Health Services in Berlin.
