Last beam placed for Exeter YMCA

EXETER - The final beam completing the steel framing of the new Southern District YMCA on Linden street in Exeter was placed today.

The beam, colored white and signed by dozens of communtiy members and volunteers, was set to be a symbol of unity for a project that has been years in the making.

"The ‘Y' is going to become our community hub," said Exec. Director Rob McGregor. "So we'll be able to have thousands of people of all ages and demographics being able to utilize this facility every day of the week, in numerous health and wellness activities."

The Southern District YMCA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

The new facility will offer programs and activities for all ages and is expected to open in the fall of 2015.
