Landrigan: Kasich offers his antidote to permanently defeat ISIS

MANCHESTER - At the American Legion Sweeney Post, Republican presidential candidate John Kasich tried to explain about the Islamic extremists that hate the U.S.

"It is a distorted cult. It is a distortion of quote their religion. They believe they need to destroy the people who live in the West," he said.

"And folks let’s forget politics today, okay? Let’s just talk about what is going on here. How is it possible they think they can walk into this building and kill you," Kasich said.

News of the San Bernadino mass murderers and links to ISIS makes this about domestic terrorism and restricting gun ownership won’t solve that, he said.

"The idea that this is all about gun control, to me it’s an awful lot about politics," Kasich continues. "I can respect people who say that but I don’t believe it will solve our problem."

An 18-year veteran of national security in Congress, Kasich said the nation’s intelligence network has a big problem with encryption by terrorists.

"We need to be able to hear the plotting that the radicals are doing," Kasich explained.

While Donald Trump says bomb the hell out of ISIS, Kasich said that’s too simplistic

"We cannot get that done by just bombing people. It won’t work," Kasich said.

Instead Kasich says the U.S. must wage and win a propaganda war too.

"I said that we could win the battle of bullets but we need to win the war of ideas," he concluded.
