Landrigan: Hassan vows to veto budget proposed by NH GOP

CONCORD - Gov. Maggie Hassan vowed to veto the Republican state budget outline calling it fiscally irresponsible with tax cuts for out-of-state corporations at the expense of the middle class.

But House Speaker Shawn Jasper, R-Hudson, said his group has given Hassan all she is going to get in more spending and the tax cuts are critical to restoring the New Hampshire Advantage.

Jasper said he would support a continuing resolution to keep state government operating past July 1 though it should be "several months long."

Hassan said she is not thinking about a potential U.S. Senate run in 2016.

GOP State Chairman Jennifer Horn said Hassan should suspend any such decision until the state has a permanent, two-year spending plan.

House and Senate negotiators have final decisions to make on their plan to complete it by a deadline at 4 p.m.
